It is a common thing that happen to everybody. if you dropped your cell phone in water, it is often possible to salve it, however the first thing is get the cell phone out of the water as soon as possible, Dropping cellphones and leaving them on water for few minutes will damage your cell phone's , it will damage it beyond repair. the first things you need to do open the cell phone and take out the battery from it and drying off all the components carefully.
Battery
Remove the battery from cell phone after retrieving your cell phone from water. switch the phone immediately and remove the battery, this will reduce the risk of short circuit's.
And remove the cards such as your memory cards , sim cards etc.. and save those on a dry place until you finish the rest of work.
Try to dry the battery with using a Cotton & smooth towel. some times battery's might not work again. better you should go for a new battery instead of having old battery acid leak problem's etc..
Dry the phone completely by Inserting your mobile in a Bowl fully filled with Dry Rice. fill a Bowl with uncooked rice and insert your mobile phone in Rice. cover the phone completely with Dry rice. also insert the battery in another bowl which filled with dry rice. Check often the rice is getting moist, if the rice is getting moist, then change the rice and insert both mobile and battery in fresh dry rice.
Leave the battery and mobile for a night if the mobile is fully waterlogged.
Now after you have completed these steps, check the rice moisture of the rice in next morning. if the mobile and battery both are done dry , test your mobile and battery, mostly mobile phones after trying these step may work but badly battery's might not work. and you will see acid leaks problems. in this case you may need to go for to get new battery.
If your phone still not working after trying this process, please take it to your nearest cellular dealer or technician for repair. explain to the dealer or technician what happened, they are may be able to repair your mobile phone.
NOTE: Unless you have insurance for your mobile and that covers the water damage, there is no meaning in that you take it to the technician or a manufacturer. having warranty and replacing the mobile is same cost and same thing's, i suggest drying the battery and mobile yourself is the best thing and easiest thing to get it work properly.
